Career Opportunity – Director of Adult Services (Full Time)

The mission of Brookview House is to help families experiencing homelessness to develop the skills and attitude necessary to break the generational cycle of homelessness and poverty.

SUMMARY

Manages the provision of services to individuals and families by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff:

  • Management of the day-to-day operations of adult services as well as providing direct services.
  • Development and management of internal and external supportive programs and external relationships.
  • Supervision and training of program staff to ensure effective delivery of services.

 CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: (Not inclusive)

  • Oversees the service plans of each family.
  • Ensures that the maximum number of families are placed into sustainable permanent housing and remain successfully housed. This includes working closely with staff, DHCD, DPH and other providers as well as providing direct services as needed.
  • Responsible for building collaborative relationships with other programs to provide participants with comprehensive services.
  • Ensures the timely completion and accuracy of all required assessments, rehousing plans, service notes and other required documentation.
  • Facilitates house meetings, educational groups, and other groups as needed – internal and external.
  • Liaison to DHCD, DPH and other agencies.
  • Oversees the collection, entry, reporting and analysis of all required data into required software systems and ensures data accuracy. Performs data entry as required.
  • Provides program coverage (including on-call) and crisis intervention.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associates with a minimum of four years relevant experience (three of which are supervisory)
  • Must be familiar with the impact of homelessness, substance abuse, and domestic violence issues
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Boston area human and clinical services
  • Must have extensive knowledge of housing resources and processes for homeless families
  • Must have experience working with and advocating for low-income families
  • Must have demonstrated group facilitation skills
  • Effective written and oral communication, organizational, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate effective management of a multi-site and multi-faceted program
  • Ability to travel between sites
  • Availability to be on call after hours to respond to emergencies
  • Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of Data Base input and utilization, word processing, e-mail and Internet
  • Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Must be fluent in English. Fluency in Spanish or Haitian Creole a plus

Career Opportunity – Housing Specialist (Full Time)

 The mission of Brookview House is to help families experiencing homelessness to develop the skills and attitude necessary to break the generational cycle of homelessness and poverty.

SUMMARY

Provide case management and housing advocacy for all participants. Assist with the housing application process. Make referrals to appropriate agencies and programs. Provide educational programs to participants. Work collaboratively with facility staff to ensure the facilities are well maintained and meet all applicable standards, regulations and laws.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: (Not inclusive)

  • Assist participants with applications to housing agencies and housing programs.
  • Provide case management and housing search (monitor, tracking, follow up).
  • Establish linkages and act as liaison to housing agencies and programs.
  • Develop and facilitate housing related workshops with participants.
  • Educate participants on eligibility, housing, availability, client rights, Credit/CORI.
  • Assist participants in permanent housing with landlord tenant issues.
  • Submit annual reports to Boston Housing Authority (BHA) and other housing agencies and funders (FHLB, etc.).
  • Data tracking, reporting and analysis of outcome measures.
  • Interface with and coordinate services with involved service providers (internal and external).
  • Attend Case Conference meetings.
  • Assist with management for Brookview House facilities including conducting unit inspections, coordinating preventative, routine and emergency maintenance needs (within the approved budget), conducting inventory and other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in 24 hour on-call system

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associates with a minimum of three years relevant experience preferred.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish required.
  • Must be familiar with the impact of homelessness, substance abuse, and domestic violence issues.
  • Experience working with and advocating for low-income families.

  • Proficiency in advocacy and mediation.

  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Must be available to participate in 24 hour on-call system.

Career Opportunity – Case Manager (Full Time)

SUMMARY

The Case Manager is responsible for providing service plan development, case management and advocacy as well as teaching families the skills necessary to become self-sufficient. The Case Manager also serves as the key contact to outside agencies on participant’s behalf.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: (Not inclusive)

  • Provides assessments, case management, referrals and advocacy.
  • Develops and implements detailed service plans.
  • Supports participants during interactions with legal, medical, DHCD, DCF, and other agencies, as needed.
  • Assist participants to obtain and maintain permanent housing.
  • Facilitates educational groups and group meetings.
  • Presents participant progress at case conferences.
  • Collects, enters and updates all required data into the software system and ensures data accuracy.
  • Participates in 24 hour on-call system
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

  • Assists the Youth Director in the administrative and programmatic operations of the Youth Program.
  • Assists the Youth Director in developing and implementing quality improvement activities.
  • Assists with developing service plans in conjunction with all involved service providers, including schools.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Above and Beyond Programs.
  • Provides direct services to program participants.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: (Not inclusive)

  • Implements program curriculum in youth programs, in the community and in the schools.
  • Provides assessments, case management, advocacy and referrals.
  • Acts as liaison to schools, DCF, the juvenile justice system and all involved providers.
  • Conduct regular progress meetings with parent and program participants.
  • Create and update weekly behavior management and academic portfolios.
  • Maintain and update program participant records.
  • Responsible for the planning, coordination and leading workshops and gender-specific groups.
  • Supervise group leaders, interns and volunteers.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collect, enter and report required data. Write / Complete reports for funding sources.
  • Complete projects and reports as assigned.
  • Completes all required trainings, including those required to advance Q.R.I.S.
  • Attends all required meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Adolescent Development, or Psychology or a higher degree and 6 college credits or EEC approved professional development equivalent in administration, management, or supervision.
  • At least one year of experience working with school age children.
  • Ability to work with diverse population.
  • Must be confident and have the ability to command respect among students.
  • Must be resourceful in creating a positive learning environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be team-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Must possess excellent public relations and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must have current first aid and CPR certification within 3 months of employment.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends to lead gender-specific groups and / or other program activities.

SUMMARY

  • Plans and implements educational, vocational, social, recreational, athletic and cultural activities that relates to the goals of the youth and the program.
  • Implements program curriculum in youth programs, in the community and in the schools.
  • Responsible for the planning, coordination and leading workshops and gender-specific groups.
  • Conducts need assessments of the community and youth to formulate a plan of activities that relates to the program’s goals.
  • Becomes involved in community activities and groups that are appropriate and beneficial for the program participants.
  • Provides extensive outreach to recruit program participants.
  • Provides training and supervision to program participants.
  • Acts as advocate for all program participants and coordinates services with their families and with involved service providers including, but not limited to, schools, DCF and the juvenile justice system. Provides referrals as needed.
  • Provides extensive outreach to ensure that program participants remain actively engaged in the program.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of outcome measures and completes reports as assigned.
  • Collect, enter and report required data.
  • Assists the Youth Director with the development of new program components as required.
  • Works with a team approach to servicing program participants in a multi-service agency.
  • Provides program coverage and direct service as needed.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field preferred
  • Minimum of three years experience working with high-risk teens
  • Knowledge of community resources as they pertain to youth social and educational development including the school system, juvenile justice system.
  • Demonstrated program development skills
  • Must be highly organized, flexible and resourceful
  • High energy level and ability to work independently required
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle required
